I recently purchased a YSL Wallet on Chain crossbody bag in the size medium as a reward for my hard work this past year as a blogger. The thought of buying a luxury designer bag is simply a matter of personal taste; some call it a waste of money, but others describe it as a long-term investment. I see the worth of handbags as “cost-per-wear” and since YSL holds its value and name, I can definitely see myself wearing it for years to come.
I decided to purchase black because 1) it goes with everything and 2) it isn’t a seasonal color so I can wear it all year around. Although I’ve heard mixed reviews about the brand, I haven’t experienced any problems myself. The pebbled leather of my bag is substantial and after a month of wearing it, I haven’t experienced any scuffs. The bag can be worn on the shoulder as well as a crossbody. I am 5’1 and the handbag falls right on my hip when worn as a crossbody.
There are two negative opinion I have about the bag: 1) the closure is a snap on rather than a magnetic closure and at times it can be a pain to close the bag unless I look at where it is aligned and 2) the chain can feel heavy on the shoulder if you wear it long enough. However, these two things are a minor issue and doesn’t change my love for it.
The design of the bag is practical for someone with my lifestyle since I don’t carry around a lot of items. It has two compartments and there are several slots for your cards; I mainly put my phone, ID, credit card, lipstick and very small or thin beauty products since I don’t want the bag to lose its shape even though it’s a sturdy material. In addition, the chain can be stored inside the bag, turning it into a clutch, which is perfect for the evening!
